This privacy policy covers the Android app "Notifyer X" (package name be.itsmartsystems.notifyerx), published on Google Play by IT-SmartSystems. It describes what the app accesses on your phone, what it stores, and what it does not do.
In short
Notifyer X does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. It has no internet access, no account, no advertising and no analytics. Everything it reads stays on your phone. What it reads about notifications is kept only in memory and is never stored; the only thing it stores about you is your settings.
1. What the app does
Notifyer X shows a light effect on your screen when an app you chose posts a notification, and when a call comes in. To do that, it needs two permissions that you grant in Android's settings:
- Notification access, so that Android tells the app that a notification was posted.
- Show above other apps (Android calls it, for example, "Display over other apps" or "Appear on top"), so that the app can draw the light on top of whatever is on your screen.
A third permission, posting notifications, is optional and only used for the app's own test notification.
2. What the app reads about notifications
Android hands each posted notification to Notifyer X. Of a notification of an app you switched on, and of the app's own test notification, Notifyer X reads only metadata:
- the package name of the app that posted it, and when it was posted;
- technical details: its flags (for example whether it is a silent update), whether it belongs to a group and how that group alerts, its category (for example "call"), its importance as ranked by Android, whether Do Not Disturb allows it and which visual effects Do Not Disturb hides for it, whether the app that posted it is suspended, and whether it was posted for you or for another user or profile on the phone, such as a work profile;
- whether the notification carries a full-screen intent (that there is one, nothing of its content);
- for the app's own test notification only, its channel;
- an irreversible hash of the notification's identifier, used only to recognise the same notification again, for example to tell an update from a new notification.
Notifyer X never reads the title, the text, the images, the sender, the actions or any other content of a notification. The code that could do so does not exist in the app, and an automated test in the project fails if such code is added.
Of a notification of any other app, Notifyer X only checks which app posted it and goes no further, except that when a notification is removed it computes the hash of its identifier described above, only to forget it. There is one more exception: while the switch "Incoming calls" is on, it also checks whether the category is "call", and a notification with that category is examined like those above, whatever app posted it, so that a call can light up. Only the metadata listed above is read for it.
For each notification it examines, the app also asks Android whether the screen is on, whether the phone is locked and which Do Not Disturb setting is active, and, only while quiet hours are switched on, the time of day. For a notification with the category "call", while "Incoming calls" is on, it also asks whether the phone is ringing audibly (its audio mode). Nothing about the caller is read: no name and no number.
All of this is processed in memory and is never stored, logged or sent anywhere. Most of it is discarded as soon as the effect has been shown or skipped. To tell a new notification from an update, to light up only once for a call, and not to light up too often for one app, Notifyer X keeps a few facts longer, still only in memory: the hash described above of each notification it has examined, and of each notification that was already on your phone when it started listening, normally until that notification goes away; next to some of these hashes, a moment in time that only serves to recognise a call that is still ringing; and, for each app, the time of its last light effect. None of it survives a restart of the phone, switching off notification access, or stopping the app in Android's settings.
3. What the app stores on your phone
Notifyer X keeps one settings file on your phone, in the app's private storage. Next to it, an Android library built into the app (AndroidX) keeps a few small technical files that help Android run the app faster; they hold nothing about you. The settings file contains only:
- whether light effects are switched on (the switch "Light effects");
- the effects, colours, line thickness, speed, rhythm, brightness and duration you chose;
- the fine-tuning values and the sides you chose;
- the quiet hours and what they do;
- whether incoming calls light up, and whether colours glide;
- your calibration, stored per screen resolution;
- the apps you have switched on at some point (by their package names), whether each of them is switched on now, and the effects, colours and sides you gave each of them;
- whether the first start, on the Permissions screen, has been completed, whether you dismissed the battery tip, and the version number of the file's format.
The list of the apps on your phone that have a launcher icon, with their names and icons, is read when you open the Apps tab or a screen opened from it, in order to show it to you. It is kept only in memory and never stored. In the same way, the app reads the size and shape of your screen and a few system values, such as whether animations are switched off, to fit the light to your phone; of these, only the screen resolution is stored, as part of your calibration. It also asks Android which apps have notification access, only to see whether it has it itself (the answer is not stored). Likewise, it reads whether Android saves battery for the app, and the name of the phone's maker, to show a tip about battery saving where it helps (neither is stored).
You can delete everything the app stores at any time: uninstall the app, or clear its storage in Android's settings ("Clear storage" or "Clear data", depending on the phone). In the Apps tab you can remove the settings of an app that is not in the list, for example one you uninstalled; an app you switch off keeps its settings.
4. Backups
Notifyer X tells Android to leave its settings out of cloud backups and out of device-to-device transfers. Whether a transfer tool of a particular phone maker honours that is outside the app's control.
5. What the app does not do
- It has no internet permission and therefore cannot send or receive anything over a network.
- It shows no advertising and contains no advertising or analytics library.
- It has no account and no login.
- It does not share data with other apps on your phone.
- It does not use the advertising ID or any other device identifier.
- It does not read your contacts, messages, location, photos, files, microphone or camera.
- In the version distributed on Google Play, it keeps no log, and its own code writes nothing to Android's system log.
6. Google Play
You buy Notifyer X through Google Play. Your purchase, payment details and Google account are handled by Google under Google's own privacy policy; Notifyer X receives none of that information.
7. Children
Notifyer X is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
8. Changes
If a future version of the app reads, stores or shares anything beyond what is described here, this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the date at the top will change.

- de pakketnaam van de app die de melding plaatste, en wanneer;
- technische kenmerken: haar vlaggen (bijvoorbeeld of het een stille bijwerking is), of ze bij een groep hoort en hoe die groep waarschuwt, haar categorie (bijvoorbeeld "oproep"), hoe belangrijk Android ze rangschikt, of Niet storen ze toelaat en welke visuele effecten Niet storen voor haar verbergt, of de app die ze plaatste door Android geschorst is, en of ze voor jou geplaatst is of voor een andere gebruiker of een ander profiel op de telefoon, zoals een werkprofiel;
- of de melding een schermvullende intentie draagt (dát er een is, niets van de inhoud);
- alleen voor de eigen testmelding van de app: haar kanaal;
- of de lichteffecten aan staan (de schakelaar "Light effects");
- de effecten, kleuren, lijndikte, snelheid, ritme, helderheid en duur die je koos;
- de fijnafstelling en de zijden die je koos;
- de rustige uren en wat ze doen;
- of inkomende oproepen oplichten, en of kleuren glijden;
- je kalibratie, bewaard per schermresolutie;
- de apps die je ooit hebt ingeschakeld (met hun pakketnaam), of elk ervan nu aan staat, en de effecten, kleuren en zijden die je elk gaf;
